Island Peak
Up there in the alpine, everything slows down: time, cognition, feeling, sense of self, even the pain or struggle. Since I turned 18, I can’t veto the calling of nature anymore; it’s a stage of life that my heart keeps telling me to go outside, push, and explore your limits, test the unknown, understand the fear and danger, to seek what is the thing that you truly value. 18 years old, first time overseas Himalayas-style expedition, first 6000m peak really got me; I reached a point when I had to decide: I kept pushing even though it would drain me and I’d be completely gone and dead, or quit the summit and retreat; sometimes the edges of consequences of those hard choices will fade away under this vague awareness(because hypoxemia), after this moment of life and death, I learned to trust my judgement under most extreme condition.
King’s Trail thru-hike, 110km
My first time overseas long-distance hike; I treated it as pre-expedition training and a test ground, an experience that was evolutionarily redefining how I understand the ways Nordic share the interconnected lived cultural philosophy with nature and landscape; those mornings sitting in the tent, gazing out into the horizon in between the valley, I thought the world was mine.
Taiwan, Tamsui-Kavalan Trails: Northern Route, 62km
After falling in love with nature, this type of Taiwanese environmental beauty is something I have yet to experience until now.
